Alerts: email, Slack and webhooks
When EmailShift opens or escalates a case, it sends an alert. Security notifications (for example a revoked connection) are always delivered.
Email and in-app
Every member sees alerts in the app. Under Alerts → Settings you choose who receives them by email, the minimum severity, quiet hours and a daily digest. Critical alerts ignore quiet hours.
Slack
- In Slack, add the Incoming Webhooks app and choose a channel. Slack gives you a webhook URL.
- In EmailShift, go to Alerts → Settings → Add Slack, paste the URL and choose the minimum severity.
- Click Send test.
Webhooks
Send alerts to your own systems, PagerDuty, Zapier or similar.
- Go to Alerts → Settings → Add webhook and enter an HTTPS URL.
- EmailShift shows a signing secret once. Store it where your receiver can read it.
Each request is a JSON POST with an X-EmailShift-Signature header: t=<unix time>,v1=<signature>, where the signature is HMAC-SHA256 of <t>.<raw body> with your secret. Reject requests older than five minutes. The settings page shows a short verification example.
Failed deliveries are retried after 1, 5, 30, 120 and 600 minutes.
