Understanding cases
A case is one problem EmailShift found, with everything needed to act on it: what happened, the evidence, the likely cause, and the next steps.
Severity
Critical, High, Medium or Low, based on the size and impact of the problem. The likely cause is always a hypothesis, labelled with how confident EmailShift is.
Status
- New: just detected.
- Investigating or Mitigating: someone is working on it.
- Monitoring recovery: the problem is no longer detected; EmailShift watches for a while before closing it.
- Resolved or Dismissed.
A case is never closed because data is missing: no data counts as "not enough information", not as recovery.
What the receiver said
When mailbox providers explain why they deferred or rejected mail, the case shows the translated reason, for example "Microsoft: throttled because of IP reputation", and puts the matching action first.
When the mailbox provider is the cause
If Gmail, Microsoft or Yahoo is delaying mail for many senders at the same time, the case says so. The deferrals are then probably not caused by your sending.
